Live with us

«Anyone who comes to the friars and wants to embrace this mode life» (“Regula Bullata”, St. Francis of Assisi, 1223, Ch.2)

We are two religious communities of friars and sisters who live and promote to the youth of today, ideals of an evangelical and Franciscan way of life lived “in the light of the Immaculate”, following the footsteps of St. Francis and St. Maximilian M. Kolbe.

The friars live in what we call Marian Houses, or “Case Mariane”, and the sisters live in “Houses of the Immaculate”, or “Case dell’Immacolata”.

Our life of prayer, poverty, penance, of work and apostolate in our communities, receive their spiritual sustenance from the life and teaching of our Seraphic Father St. Francis of Assisi, and St. Maximilian; living always under the guidance of the Magisterium of Holy Mother Church and of the Vicar of Christ on earth, the Pope. Our communities strive to keep a high level of evangelical testimony, aspiring never to fall short of our calling – in mediocrity – pushing ourselves towards that heroism that conforms us to Jesus, “poor and crucified”.

Frati e Suore Davanti a San Pietro

What is it that makes us different from the other Franciscan communities? The specific character of the Friars and Sisters of the Immaculate is: the Marian Vow, i.e. in the unlimited consecration to the Immaculate. This is the first of four vows that we take in our religious profession. The other three vows are those common to every other religious community, namely: obedience, poverty and chastity.

One of the natural consequences of the Marian Vow is its missionary dimension. This concretely means: our constant availability to go out and preach the Gospel to every man and woman on the earth, bringing Jesus and Mary to souls.
Whoever enters to form part of the community of the Franciscan Friars or Sisters of the Immaculate, will rapidly realize that the religious vocation is a special call to intimate communion with God and with neighbor. The presence of Our Lady helps maintain this family spirit. Unsurprisingly, she is recognized as Mother and Queen of every Marian House; houses specially dedicated under one of her titles.

It has been said that, they are the radical things that move young men and women’s hearts. This is probably the reason why St. Francis, and other Franciscan saints, including St. Maximilian M. Kolbe, seems to continually inspire and fascinate others in a complete donation of oneself in the serviceof God and of the Immaculate. Heroic sanctity is a persistent motivation that animates the communities of the Franciscan Friars and Sisters of the Immaculate.

St. Maximilian called his Cities of the Immaculate “Apiaries of the Immaculate.” The friars of St. Maximilian Kolbe labored for long hours during the day, united to intense prayer, like bees producing the sweet honey of love towards the Immaculate in souls, by means of their printing apostolate. St. Maximilian use to say, “The Immaculate will make you happy!”

The Franciscan Friars and Sisters of the Immaculate also aspire, in their respective communities, to become “Apiaries of the Immaculate.” This was the desire of St. Maximilian; and following in his footsteps, we wish to become like him, “Patron for these difficult times”, as Pope John Paul II called him. He is always the special patron of the religious communities of the Franciscan Friars and Sisters of the Immaculate.

If you come and live with us, experiencing the life of the Franciscan of the Immaculate, you too can become, like St. Francis of Assisi and St. Maximilian M. Kolbe, builders of the Kingdom of God in the hearts of all men by means of the Immaculate!

If the Immaculate is calling you, make haste and don’t delay. She awaits you at the community door of the Franciscans of the Immaculate, who are especially dedicated to her cause, her very “property” of love on this earth and in the heavens, thereafter.
